The Beginning of a Rather Strange Journey

Seven years, one unfinished novel, and a lifelong love affair with storytelling.

Hi there, future readers. This is L.K. Taylor logging in.

My first post.

I’ve actually been writing my whole life. Since I was a child, to be precise. But for all those years, things just didn’t seem to gel. I tried to breathe life into my stories, but before long, the words on the page would dry up. I’d scrunch the sheet of paper into a ball and throw it into the bin in frustration.

Think, damn it, think. And breathe...

2019

A new idea. A new laptop. A sentence.

My mind was, shall we say, being visited by the muse herself.

Another sentence led to a paragraph, which led to the first chapter. And oh my God, the words began to flow, almost dancing onto the screen like the perfect melody from a writer’s dream.

Trials and tribulations would follow. Frustrations. Procrastination. What writer hasn’t felt their full force?

But then, of course, the love affair with the words on the page began to deepen. A world was taking shape, slowly morphing into something I would never have thought possible.

Seven bloody years!

And I wouldn’t have changed it for all the roads that lead to Rome.

From wondering whether I could ever fulfil my dream of writing a novel to surprising myself by creating something of an epic.

Well, nearly.

The good news is that the first draft of my dark speculative novel, Inferno, is almost finished. Finally, the end is within sight.

And I know there’s hard work still to be done. But so be it. That’s the writer’s life. That’s what I’ve willingly signed up for.

The feeling of needing to write. There’s simply no question about it.

So, here I am. Warts and all.

Just me. My imagination. Headphones playing beautiful cinematic music.

Oh, and of course, a nice cup of green tea.

The love of the craft is why I’m here. To explore strange worlds, breathe life into characters and share a little of my imagination with whoever might care to wander through it.

Alongside Inferno, I’ll be sharing my writing journey, experimenting with flash fiction and short stories, and occasionally dipping back into poetry.

Stories of darkness. Stories of light. Stories that challenge our preconceptions of the human condition. Love and hope, death and suffering.

Oh, and don’t forget a little sprinkle of magic.

I promise myself one thing: to travel fearlessly along this strange, endless and thoroughly enjoyable road of exploration.

So, my friends...

Let us begin.

Welcome to the world of L.K. Taylor.
